A strong commitment of President Alain Beretz
Alain Beretz, President of the university of Strasbourg, will promote the e-LERU project in the LERU rectors' assembly of Zürich, May 8th and 9th
The e-LERU partners share their membership of the League of European Research Universities (LERU). Through the Top Science programme the e-LERU partners would therefore like to stress their common expertise in research. The e-LERU Top Science programme consists of a series of filmed lectures given by leading scientists from the e-LERU partner universities and made available on the e-LERU virtual campus. The Top Science lectures, as defined by the boards of the partner universities, will cover the most advanced fields of research of each university and thus reflect each university’s scientific strengths.
All lectures will be made available online as video streams on the e-LERU website and be accompanied by slides and additional material (enriched-media), if available. The Top Science lectures will be freely and widely accessible on the e-LERU website enabling master’s students, scientists and other interested parties to attend the lectures online.
The first Top Science lectures will be available on the e-LERU virtual campus from October 2006. A full collection of lectures is due by February 2007.
The aim of this series of lectures is to communicate the goals and accomplishments of a university’s research to the partner universities. The programme is intended to serve broad communities including students as well as researchers.
A number of learning tools will be created on the basis of the audiovisual recordings of the lectures. The lectures will indeed constitute supplementary learning material for existing master’s study programmes and e-LERU modules. The Top Science lectures embody the concept of research-based education.
